DMACK Studded Tyre Upgraded For Swedish Snow

DMACK Studded Tyre Upgraded For Swedish Snow

Armed with revamped, studded snow tyres, DMACK will tackle one of the FIA World Rally Championship’s most specialist events next week at Rally Sweden. The firm’s upgraded winter tyres, DMG-ICE2, have a new construction and a stiffer tread compound, which have been proven to deliver enhanced performance and stud retention.

The new specification has already triumphed, helping Fredrik Ahlin to take overall victory on the opening round of the Swedish Rally Championship last weekend.

2017 Performance
The new pattern DMG-ICE2 was introduced last year and immediately Elfyn Evans was on the pace in his Fiesta WRC. He finished sixth overall on Rally Sweden, equalling his best-ever finish on the snowy event.

Tyre Overview
The DMG-ICE2 has a directional tread pattern and is available in one compound for Rally Sweden. That compound has been stiffened and the construction upgraded to deliver more high-speed precision, traction and performance. Winter tyres for WRC must fit on the same size wheel rim as gravel tyres.

Each tyre holds 384 metal pins, with a maximum length of 20mm and weighing 4g. There is no limit on the amount of stud protruding from the tyre but only 20 per decimeter are permitted. The method of stud insertion, including drilling method and adhesive, has also been improved with the aim of increasing stud retention even further.
